How Not to Podcast

This crazy thing happened a few weeks ago on murmur: I was invited to partake in the podcasting portion of the site. Well, that’s not quite true. Every couple of weeks one of the staff members sends an email to the rest of us and asks who might be interested in joining the call for that episode (the podcasts are taped from a skype-delivered conversation). What made Episode 6 special was that they finally hit a topic that allowed me to overcome my innate fear of the medium. Everyone on the call agreed that I did a good job for my first time out and the feedback from the site’s regulars was also quite supportive.

High off the ego trip and full of “I did it and survived” endorphins, I signed up for the next one, this time about the new Fall TV season. This one went …less well for me, although thankfully the finished product doesn’t reflect too many of my sophomoric mistakes.

Murmurings – July and August 2009

So I jumped onto my sad, neglected blog to post a bunch of links to the what I’ve been writing at Murmur over the past month(s), only to discover that i never told you I’m a staff writer at Murmur now.

Hilariously entertaining because less than 48 hours earlier I was chatting with my husband, trying to find motivation to keep writing and said “if only I could get some sort of validation from someone who wasn’t friend or family, first.” And then I did!

and we’re back

did you miss me? i missed you.

i come bearing a gift and the promise of more, soon.

first off, the gift: my favorite martini to help remind that i exist.

and now, the promises: assuming sick babies get better soon, there should be new images coming your way via flickr, a blog post or 2 on charlotte’s site (because going offline took her offline, too), and a post here with the “snapshots” i took while i was away from you for 46 days. don’t worry, i didn’t record something every day. sometimes not even once a week.

for now, though, i’m off to see if the sick baby might want some turkey or bananas for “lunch”.
