2007 mid-ish year recap

kelly | September 1, 2007

wherein kelly throws herself a whiny pity party and decides upon review that she really doesn’t care about the tense shifting and inconsistent capitalization enough to do anything about it.
let’s recap, shall we?
January
bad: found out my dad’s “spots” were very terminal pancreatic cancer
February
good: *finally* sold our damn house.
bittersweet: found out friends were pregnant (what? i’m [...]

2007: a look ahead

kelly | January 1, 2007

here’s the things that i’d like to do this year:

drink less soda (maybe 1 a day?)
drink way more water (some in the form of tea)
wean myself mostly off of caffeine by march-ish
exercise regularly (once week by march, adding a “once” every week every quarter)
read one book a month (pitiful goal, i know, but considering i [...]

where do we live?

kelly | July 2, 2006

well…
first off, there’s the house. that we’ve lived in for just over 4 years (literally 4 years and 2 weeks, i think). we own this.
we also “own” a loft-condo that we will be moving into sometime next year. the latest we’ve heard is “summer 2007″, but they started (last year when we claimed [...]

moving: day 1

kelly | July 1, 2006

so we’ve “started” packing up and purging, but didn’t really get full swing until today. here’s what we accomplished:

the pantry (everything sorted into keep, donate, trash)
the fridge (everything that can’t make it to whenever we actually get into the apartment trashed)
the freezer (see above)
the liquor (everything vinegar-ized or opened that hasn’t been used in [...]

bathroom setbacks

kelly | October 19, 2005

painting a bathroom can be hazardous to both your physical and mental heath.
during coat 4 (while in a particularly awkward and stressful position to pain behind the toilet), something in my back snapped and made the rest of the paint job pretty challenging. ryan offered to finish up for me, but i declined. he [...]

so it turns out…

kelly | October 6, 2005

that while leaving primer on the walls over night before you paint the next day is a good idea, leaving it on your skin over night (since you’re just going to paint more the next morning) is not. it makes it very very hard to get off your skin without taking two or three [...]

bathrooms – day 6

kelly | October 3, 2005

two pictures really say it all for the dramatic differences in the master bath. the tub is gone and is now all shower. we’ve got a minor issue with the vanity–it’s not the one we thought we picked out. the glass in the catalogue looked simply frosted, not etched like “grandma glass.” [...]

bathrooms – day 5

kelly | October 3, 2005

my previous post has drained me of my words, so this will be short.
nothing much happened in the hall bathroom. there was some patching and spackling and such, but nothing picture worthy. in fact, there won’t be any more hall bathroom pictures until we paint. here’s some shots of the master bath including the [...]

bathrooms – day 4

kelly | September 29, 2005

so many pictures. so not in the mood for commentary.
hall bath has pretty stuff now. toilet works, sink works, tub works. haven’t tested shower, have no door.

it’s amazing what this guy can accomplish in a day though. check out the shots of the master bath. that hole is the one under the pedestal sink that [...]

bathrooms – day 3

kelly | September 28, 2005

we got home to find our new sink/vanity blocking the entrance to the bathroom. why is that? because we can’t go in the bathroom. why is that?
because there’s floor!

just the tile, no grout yet. i guess that happens tomorrow. anyway, we can’t go in there right now. muka managed to sneak past [...]
