louder please

speak up, i can't hear you

what a difference

a year ago (literally 365 days) today, we attended infuz’s first annual chirstmas party. i was exceedingly nervous because my husband had just gotten hired and i wanted to make sure i made a good impression for his sake as well as (potentially) my own. i had to walk a socially inept fine line of being sober enough not to embarrass, but intoxicated enough to be socially less-awkward.

a very brief conversation had last time (“hey, angela, meet kelly. she likes shoes” “you will be my new project manager”) resulted in a job for me 5 months later, and this time around, i was attending my own holiday party, full of people i worked with every day.

it was better.

we could also walk home, which made the appropriate level of intoxication increase.

fun fact to know and tell: if the bartender doesn’t have cream, you can still get a white russian out of him. just have him make a black russian and then steal over to the coffee setup and grab your cream. good, tasty times.

the food was just as beautiful as last time, and the company was even more enjoyable. gifts this time were slightly more spectacular than last. there was no “stealth nano” like last time, but there was a wii, a nano, and a really fabulous “dinner with jason and katie plus a trip to the chocolate bar” gift that i think i would have grabbed if i’d have been the last ticket. instead of walking away with random wal-mart gift soaps and a “dig your own dinosaur” toy, we ended up with a $15 itunes gift certificate (with a pretty box) and some tasty chocolate things. granted, this was after ryan had to give up the nano (sticking it down his pants did not deter the subsequent gift-grabbers), but still, good times.

i love my job. sometime i forget that i work with fabulous people in an incredible space with a fearless leader that rocks the world. tonight i remembered. i almost got veklempted.
