this bodes ill

so this morning, just after we woke, we were greeted by the sound of a jackhammer drilling into the street just outside our window. and by “just outside” i mean “no more than 20 feet away, even taking into account the fact that we’re on the second floor.” i should also mention that our “historically accurate” (read: too lazy to upgrade) windows leak sound about as well as they leak outside air in.

it was very loud.

our immediate thoughts were about how displeased we will be when that starts early on a morning we wish to sleep past 7:30 on.

tonight, however, we’ve discovered a more distressing issue. they did not finish their hole making, so they’ve covered it with the standard metal plate thingy they always do.

think for a moment how loud and obnoxious that sound is when you drive over it. now imagine it 20 feet from your bedroom.
