speak up, i can't hear you

midmonth mark: 22454

a bit shy of the halfway point, but not too bad. i should be caught up by the end of the weekend assuming nothing crazy happens, which means it probably will. I’m getting into plot points now, mixing up the characters so they can all get to know each other. for example:

“Am I correct in assuming these rings are not yet complete, then?”

“You are. They should be ready in the morning, however. Should I send them to the palace, or would you like to collect them yourself?”

“Lord Fell is concerned for their well-being. A courier he did not implicitly trust would not sit well with him. Will you have Lady Brill’s gift ready at the same time?”

“No, I’m afraid her gift will take a bit more time. It should be ready for her wedding day, however.” He reached under his counter again and presented Marcus with another small box. “I do, however, have this for her.”

With Demetrious’ permission, Marcus opened the box. In it was a small silver ring made of several smaller rings woven into each other. Three stars were pressed into the woven rings, locking them into place. The item fairly hummed with magic, but Marcus sensed it was of a protective nature, like the pendants and rings he’d picked up earlier. He asked Demetrious the obvious question by raising one eyebrow.

“She should find that it compliments the necklace Lord Fell presented to her last week rather well. I would not recommend she ever wear the necklace without wearing this ring as well.”

“What a thoughtful gift,” Marcus said with a short bow. A small amount of tension released itself as an understanding was reached between the two of them.

Demetrious uses “however” a whole lot. i need to find a better way to communicate the voice i hear in my head. that’s something that’ll have to be cleaned up later…in december.
