speak up, i can't hear you

when good books go horribly, horribly wrong

i may have grown out of my anne rice phase (a phase that went strong for over 10 years), but the vampire lestat is still one of my favorite books. i have literally read it at least 10 times. the primary non-homoerotic theme deals with the search for understanding what (if anything) is really out there besides us (god-like, not creepy bumpinthenight-like), and she manages to distill and echo my fears so perfectly in that book.

but even i knew a musical version was a very, very bad idea. especially now, a full 20ish years after the novel was originally written, 12 years after the movie of the first book, and 4 years after the movie that “combined” this and the 3rd book tanked.

i think this is the 3rd time i’ve learned about this musical, mostly because each time it comes up, i immediately forget about it. looks like now i can forget about it for good. maybe if they try to make a couple bucks off the soundtrack i’ll pick it up. apparently lestat has a decent set of pipes ;)

    I have a feeling a lot of these books are… well, I won’t judge until I listen.
